Dark Ascendant is a free browser-based game with optional in-app purchases and advertisements. This policy explains what limited data we collect and how it is used.
When you play Dark Ascendant, the following data may be stored:
Wizard name — the name you choose when you first play. This is stored locally on your device and, if you participate in the leaderboard, stored on our servers alongside a randomly generated device identifier.
Device identifier — a randomly generated code created when you first play. It contains no personal information and is used solely to associate your leaderboard entry with your device so scores can be updated.
Game progress — your level, upgrades, achievements and settings are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This data never leaves your device.
Purchase information — if you buy gems or Remove Ads, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We do not see, collect, or store your card details. See the Payments section below.
Advertising identifiers — if you view ads, our ad provider may collect a device advertising identifier and related data to serve and measure ads. See the Advertising section below.
We do not collect your name, email address, location, or any information that could identify you as an individual. We do not run our own analytics or tracking. Any tracking that occurs through advertising is performed by our third-party ad provider, described below.
In-app purchases (Soul Gem packs and Remove Ads) are processed entirely by Stripe, Inc. When you make a purchase, you are taken to a secure, Stripe-hosted payment page. We never see, receive, or store your card number, billing address, or other payment details.
Stripe may collect information necessary to process your payment and to comply with fraud-prevention and financial regulations, in accordance with their own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Purchases are non-personalized — we do not link purchases to your wizard name, device identifier, or leaderboard entry beyond crediting your in-game account with the items purchased.
Dark Ascendant may display ads, and offers an optional one-time "Remove Ads" purchase. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC.
To serve ads — including measuring ad performance and, where permitted, showing personalized ads — Google AdMob may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general location (e.g. country or region), and information about how you interact with ads.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or other regions with similar requirements, you will be shown a consent prompt before any personalized advertising data is collected, in line with Google's EU User Consent Policy. You may withdraw consent or opt out of personalized ads at any time through that prompt, or through your device's ad settings.

Purchasing Remove Ads permanently disables ad requests for your device going forward.
If you participate in the global leaderboard, your wizard name, level, prestige count, and best completion time are stored on a third-party database (Supabase). This data is publicly visible to all players on the leaderboard. Your device identifier is stored alongside this data but is never displayed publicly.

Local game data can be deleted at any time using the Full Reset option in the game's Settings menu, or by clearing your browser's local storage.
To request removal of your leaderboard entry, contact us at the address below and include your wizard name.

Dark Ascendant relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

Dark Ascendant is not directed at children under 13, and is not configured to serve child-directed advertising. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
